Details from Jeremiah Lee Mansion’s 18th century wallpaper were chosen to create this elegant collection. The wallpaper’s Roman- and French-inspired scenes were hand-painted in London specifically for Colonel Lee’s Marblehead home.
This collection uses the wallpaper from the Belfry Chamber at Beauport, the Sleeper-McCann House in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Beauport was the summer home of one of America’s first professional interior designers, Henry Davis Sleeper.
Ashley Bowen (1728-1813) was the first American mariner to recount the story of his life. Watercolors and the descriptions from his journals are the basis for this handsome collection. These illustrations depict events and life at sea for the average sailor of his time.
Our most colorful and whimsical collection, JOJ Frost’s images and written notes combine to present a picture of nineteenth century life in a small New England coastal town. Images of fishing schooners and their catch reflect Frost’s fascination with the sea and the lives of fishermen.
A growing collection using images from a “pocket puzzle” made in the early 1800s. It appears to be an offer of marriage. The folded square piece of paper appears to have held a ring within. Watch for a new plate at the beginning of each year.
